Aris X. Hart

Mr. Aris X. Hart is the founder of Safeguard Law, PLLC. Mr. Hart’s professional career has spanned a variety of fields including education lobbying, healthcare, opioid litigation, and tax policy. He started Safeguard Law because he feels that tax law is some of the most gratifying work because it involves helping real people from all walks of life.

Mr. Hart was born in North Carolina and moved to Washington, D.C. to attend American University for college. A first-generation attorney, Mr. Hart earned his Juris Doctor from George Mason University School of Law in Arlington, Virginia. In addition to excelling in a tax law concentration while at GMU, he was president of the GMU Black Law Student’s Association and won an oral advocacy award in trial advocacy. He also helped entrepreneurial clients start their own businesses and navigate common pitfalls in the GMU Innovation Law Clinic.

After becoming a lawyer, Mr. Hart helped hundreds of people navigate the significant tax impacts of the coronavirus pandemic, those affected by record unemployment, and new tax law changes. He also helped numerous small business owners and pandemic-inspired investors to navigate this tax frontier. He found that helping people harmed financially during the pandemic was incredibly gratifying.

When he is not working, Mr. Hart serves on the board of a nonprofit that provides the District of Columbia-Maryland-Virginia area with exposure to artistic dance opportunities and performances. He is also teaching himself to play the piano.
