Cromer Babb & Porter, LLC
Chance Sturup is an associate attorney with Cromer Babb & Porter, LLC and has been with the firm since 2019. Practicing law at CB&P gives Chance an opportunity to do three of his favorite things every day: compete, win, and help others.
Chance’s practice focuses on representing employees across the State in issues related to their employment. Chance regularly handles cases including civil rights, sexual harassment, wrongful termination, discrimination (race, gender, disability, age, etc.), retaliation, breach of contract, failure to pay proper wages, whistleblowing, family and medical leave, non-compete agreements, severance negotiations, grievances, licensure appeals, defamation, negligence, and more.
Clients recommend Chance not only for his aggressive advocacy in public, but also for his honest and unfiltered advice in private.
Chance says he knew quickly that advocacy was his true calling. Before becoming a real lawyer, Chance was one of the most decorated student-attorneys in the country, having won nearly twenty “top advocate” awards in trial competitions at the high school, college, and law school level for his courtroom talent.
Chance is also a Professor with the University of South Carolina Honors College, where he teaches courses on American Trial Advocacy and the head coach for the University of South Carolina’s Mock Trial Program.
Originally from Pensacola, Florida, Chance completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Alabama on a Presidential Scholarship with degrees in both history and communication studies. At the University of South Carolina School of Law, Chance received the highest level of Academic Merit Scholarship, was selected as an ambassador of the law school, and received the prestigious American College of Trial Lawyers Award, D. Reece Williams III Trial Advocacy Award, and Judge Paul Joseph Kelly Jr. Outstanding Advocate Award.
