The MITRE Corporation
Izak is Assistant General Counsel at MITRE (a leading science and technology nonprofit engaging in research and development in the public interest), where he provides strategic guidance on corporate compliance, commercial contracts, international governance, tech transactions, and disputes.
Prior to MITRE, Izak was the global in-house compliance and contracts counsel for Access Now (an international digital rights and data advocacy nonprofit) after having worked in litigation and corporate transactions at a commercial law firm. He obtained his Juris Doctor (JD) from the University of Melbourne, having also studied law at McGill University.
Izak is active in the legal community, and is currently an Associate Judge – Awards and Subgrants for the American Bar Association (ABA), Arbitrator for the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), member of the ABA Pro Bono and Public Service Committee, and Programs Co-Chair for the Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC) International Legal Affairs Network.
Outside of work, Izak serves with the US Coast Guard Auxiliary as a Flotilla Staff Officer (FSO), Vessel Examiner (VE), and Operational Auxiliarist (AX), a Volunteer Attorney with Pro Bono Partnership, Pro Bono Attorney with the ABA’s “Free Legal Answers” Program, law student mentor with Melbourne Law School, and Young Mediator with the International Mediation Institute (IMI).
Izak has been awarded the following professional designations: Associate (A.CIArb) – Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb); Member (M.AiADR) – Asian Institute of Alternative Dispute Resolution (AiADR); Member (M.CMI) – Chartered Management Institute (CMI); Professional (P.RI) – Resolution Institute (RI); Member (M.AICD) – Australian Institute of Corporate Directors (AICD).
