Deandra Grant Law
Jessica graduated summa cum laude from Texas State with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a minor in Criminal Justice. She then attended Texas Tech University School of Law and received her Doctor of Jurisprudence with a concentration in Criminal Law and Innocence. Jessica attended Texas Tech University School of Law and received her Doctor of Jurisprudence with a concentration in Criminal Law and Innocence. While in law school Jessica was two-time President of the Criminal Law Association, President of Tech National Lawyers Guild, an Advisor on the Diversity Advisory Board, a research assistant, served in the Student Bar Association, and was a State Bar Qualified Law Student in the Criminal Defense Clinic. She received “Top Grade” awards for Criminal Defense Clinic, Texas Juvenile Law, and Capital Punishment Seminar. Jessica was the recipient of the Constangy, Brooks, Smith & Prophete LLP Diversity Scholarship, Criminal Law Association Scholarship, the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association Charles Butts Scholarship, and the Brendan and Brian Murray Criminal Defense Endowed Scholarship during her time at Tech Law. Jessica was awarded the Diversity Student Award, which is given to a student, who during their time in law school, has demonstrated a commitment to advancing diversity at Texas Tech University and the legal profession. Additionally, Jessica was awarded the Pro Bono Achievement Award for performing over 200 hours of pro bono work while at Texas Tech. During her time as a research assistant, she was published in the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association magazine “Voice for the Defense.” In 2024, Jessica completed the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA)/International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) Standardized Field Sobriety Testing Program. This training has been a cornerstone in enhancing her courtroom skills through her understanding of field sobriety test administration.
