Diamant Gerstein, LLC
Ms. Sharon T. Diamant has served as an attorney for more than twenty-five years. She began as a prosecutor in the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office in October 2000, left in 2002 to practice criminal law in Florida, then returned in 2004. She remained with the office until 2010, when she opened her own practice.
During her tenure as a prosecutor, Ms. Diamant prosecuted a variety of cases—ranging from theft, assault, and traffic offenses to sexual abuse matters in the Juvenile Division. One of her high-profile juvenile cases led to the first legislation requiring juveniles charged with sexual offenses to register as sex offenders (Washington Post). In 2007, she joined her office’s white-collar crime team, overseeing large-scale thefts, embezzlements, and investigations of police officer-involved shootings and public official misconduct.
Over the past fifteen years, Ms. Diamant has focused on criminal and domestic law, routinely appearing before magistrates and judges. Her practice addresses divorce, child custody, child support, peace and protective orders, and post-judgment issues. She has handled cases highlighted in the media, including a grandparent’s right to custody (WJLA 7 News) and a matter resulting in mental health treatment rather than incarceration.
Ms. Diamant earned her J.D. from the University of Dayton School of Law in 1999. She is admitted in Maryland, Florida, the U.S. District Court in Greenbelt, Maryland, and the U.S. Supreme Court. She has been recognized by Super Lawyers for multiple years and maintains memberships in several professional organizations. She also serves on Montgomery County’s Judicial Nominating Commission and the board of the Sobeloff Society. Her accolades include Avvo’s Client Choice Award and a “superb” rating on Avvo.com.
